Has anyone found a sustainable way to reload for the SVT-40? I have heard in other threads that due to the fluted chamber it is nearly impossible. After firing 40 odd rounds out of mine with PRVI ammo, ALL my cases had marks from the fluting (typical) and a deep dent in the side wall, almost looks like it is being flung into the corner of the receiver cover and being destroyed

My buddy loads for his rifle, no problem. Adjusting gas cylinder (with tool from tradex?) may reduce side dents, my friend had no problem there. The flute marks are noticeable, but so far haven't affected case longevity. More of a problem is lack of proper neck sizing on thin wall european cases with rcbs and sometimes lee dies. The neck tension may be insufficient on .311 bullets for them to stay in place with violent semi auto feeding. It's quite accurate, have fun.

I reload for my SVT-40 and find I can get 4 or 5 reloads out of each case. My rifle's chamber fluting doesn't mar the brass much. I don't have a problem with dents in the cases as I have the gas valve properly adjusted. One thing I did notice is that I have to carefully check each case for signs of head separation before reloading. I use a paper clip with a 90 degree bend at the tip. I just insert the end of the paper clip into the case & feel for a groove. Cases stuck in the SVT-40 from case head separation are a ##### to remove if you don't have a stuck case removal tool.
