I cant seem to find much info on this in general, my reloading manual does not list it. I have found some recipes on the net but not many...

Does any one have any tips for loading for this cartridge? Powders that worked well??? bullets they liked???

Also has anyone made cases out of 300 win mag? results?

Any and all advice is welcome,

Thanks in advance!

If you can find a copy of Ken Waters Pet Loads there is a good write-up on the 308 Norma.
Most of the older loading manuals had good load info for it, Sierra, Nosler,Hornady, Lyman and others.
I have found that virtually any slow burning powder that works in a 300 Win. Mag. will give good performance in the Norma.
You might send a PM to Johnn Peterson on here as he might have his load notes for the Norma closer at hand than mine.
Also maybe send a PM to Why Not on here as he has years of experience with the 308 Norma as well..
I have one and will get back to you tomorrow with some loads..

Thanks, I found a few images of the pet loads with data for the 308nm, looks like h4831 is a good place to start. I unfortunately could not find the write up. Seems like that would be a cool book tho.

sn; I have 2 - 308 Norma Mags at present, and have owned at least one rifle so chambered since 1967.
H4831 is a good powder, as is Reloder 22, Norma MRP and IMR 7828. [Now out of production H450 also worked well.]
I have used H1000 and Reloder 25 successfully with 200 grain bullets.
It is easy to make 308 Norma Brass from 300 Win mag.
Just lube the body [no lube on neck or shoulder, please] with a good sizing lube.
I like Imperial Sizing wax. Then lube the inside of the neck with powdered graphite or Motor Mica.
Run the case through your FL 308 Norma Die. Trim to length, [2.550"] load and shoot away.

.308 Norma Mag

Easy to make .308 NM from .300 win mag. Lube .300 case up to where the shoulder of the .308 NM should be ,then with a q-tip lube the inside of the case mouth. Remove the expander button and spindle with decapping pin from the sizer die. FL size the case, trim to .308 NM length.Put sizing die back together to resize the case again and deprime.Chamfer the neck inside and outside.Ready to prime load and shoot. Once fired range brass works fine too. This way you won't get any oil dents or collapsed cases...I used 72gr of RE#19 and a Barnes 168gr TSX to ventilate a moose last fall and it cut 3/4" groups at 100 yards.Harold

I (and I am sure others as well) really appreciate your frank and honest input Eagleye - we are thankful to have you share your knowledge.

I have one 308 Norma - loaded it with imr 4350 and`150 grain Nosler Partitions.

There's quite a few loads available on the Hodgdon's web site.

I have made the Norma brass from 300 Win Mag, pretty much following Eagleye's method and it works. Great cost savings.

IMR 4350 @ 67.5 grns of powder.
Bullets are Hornady SP 16 gr Interlocks.
I have found this combination a sweet spot
for dad's old Schultz.
The group opens up as the powder increases.
Not by much, but it does.
This load through a buddies chrono makes it
around +- 3000 fps.
