Since this is where all the M-14S blasters live,I thought that maybe this is the forum to ask.Looking for tips and hints (loads etc) on reloading for this firearm.Want to use military (IVI) brass.Have a couple of hundred empties to reload. What say you. Thanks

I was a little paranoid from all the internet fu I was reading when I started, but in the end, it is not a big deal.

I rinse the empties because they will be thrown in the nearest pile of mud when ejected. Dry them completely, then full size and trim. After that, it is
h4895 (or IMR) and 168 SMKs on top of a CCI, or 210 primer.

I am at about 2K rounds doing this now, and no problems. Brass life is not as short as some say.

Brass life is dependant on the headspace of your particular rifle and how hot you are loading the ammo. There is a large variance in the Nork M14s as far as headspace goes. Some are within .308 tolerances, some are over 7.62x51 tolerances.
You should have some fired cases mic'd to get an idea of what the headspace is in your rifle. That will give you an idea of how many times to load your brass.

My Norc loves lose IVI and LC brass. It's what I try to use when I get my hands on them. They last me around 3-4 firings.

I use the Hornady 150 gr FMJ bulk bullets for Service Condition matches at 200M and 300M with 42.5 grains of H4895 and CCI 200 primers. Then I use a 168 HPBT Sierra or Speer bullet, depending on what I can find at the local gun shop. This bullet is pushed by H4895 at 41.5 grains and CCI primers. This is the most simple and safe formula for 150 and 168 gr bullets using H4895 I found from resources online. You are very limited on loadings for this rifle. BTW, full sizing only. No neck sizing. Make sure your brass is always trimmed to the right case size and make sure your primer is seated very deep.

I hope this skinny helps.
