Reloading for the M14/M305/M1A

medicstimpy.

I found that pushing loads for Frontier 110 plated past 2000 fps are very inaccurate. The 13 gr of Red Dot is travelling at 1900 fps in my M14. When I reduce it to 7.5 grains it got even more accurate. I think It has something to do with the frontier plated bullet designed for pistol velocities.

Just be very, very careful when using very reduced loads for rifle. Look up the secondary explosion phenomena when dealing with very reduced loads using slow burning rifle powders. This is why Red Dot works well because it has a large powder density to fill up the rifle case and is a fast burning rate.

Apparently "the load" works only for .30 and up. Go to gun writers. They discuss stuff like these.
