Reloading Manuals

If you're buying the RCBS Rock Chucker Master Reloading Kit (good choice btw) the Speer #13 Manual is included! The Lyman 48th edition is also good. Those two, along with Hodgdon's 26th are my goto manuals.

If you're a newbie, don't trust loads you find on private web sites or even manufacturer's web sites! Typos and mistakes can happen, so cross-check any and all loads you find!!!! An extra grain or two or power or a mix-up in powders and you can seriously hurt yourself. There are lots of powders on the market made by different manufacturers having the same or very similar names...they ARE NOT interchangeable!

Any new load, back off 10% from the max load listed and work up. Also, don't go under the min load either!

The ABC's of Reloading is a great book for guys new to the hobby and also includes lots of useful stuff for even the experienced reloader. Have fun and be safe!

As for reloading data, why the reliance on (sometimes expensive) books/manuals? All the data is "out there" on the various websites of the powder companies, plus those listed by veteran reloaders. Compare 'em all in a matter of minutes.

Actually all of the data aren't on the powder company web sites, just what's in the freebies.

I recommend the Lyman, and I use the Sierra manual, but have a number of others too.

My first one I bought was the 48th lyman, though I have two from the late 50's early 60's that came from Grandpa. I've added a newer hornady, siearra, speer and an old speer a friend gave me. Fun to compare the differences. I wish they added more information on cast loads and plated bullets though!

Wow!:D You guys really out did yourselves! Top notch info, great advice, great website links and a couple of straight up offers for a manual to start my reloading with.

If I may be so bold as to ask the moderator to put a "STICKY" on this thread, us newbies will always have access to this wealth of info.

Again, thanks a bunch guys! You are all farmers - outstanding in your field!

im a beginer and before i bought a reloading kit i bought the lyman 48th addition manual. im half way throught it and its extreamly easy to understand and their is a really great load data section in the back. good luck!;)

Get several and also get some older ones. A lot of the loads in the newer manuals are lite compared to the older ones.

Another good piece of advice is....If you aren't sure of something and you can't find an answer in your manuels ASK HERE people on this site have a lot of good knowledge and experience, and are always ready to help
