Reloading Newbie Questions

David, your are more than welcome to see my set up before you go buy yours. I am not into large quantity production nor do I want to be stuck behind a press all day. Reloading is a space filler. I work in quantities of 50 or 100. when ever I have an hour or so to kill I will go in my shed and finish one stage(or two on a good day).

I am not interested in shooting the nut sack off of a mosquito at 500 yards. Minute of pie plate at 100 yards is good enough for me. I use my reloads for target practice. I use premium bullets for hunting. When your kids go through one or two hundred in a sitting it is nice to have these home made rounds.

Only you know exactly what you need.

Regards

Sorry but I don't have much time to go to hamilton right now, and am not out there very often. If you say the set is good enough to get started I will go buy it, if I happen to be in the area sometime in the near future though, I would like very much to check out your setup.

If I were to purchase this kit, could I use it to reload pistol calibers as well (with different dies of course), such as .45 LC, .38 special, and .44 mag

Pretty well started off with the same as you but I got the anniversary kit. That was close to 2 1/2 years ago now I haven't really added much besides dies for the basic reloading plus I got into casting so now I've got a bunch of moulds and sizers to go with that extra hobby. Getting into pistols so will probably be buying a turret press or dare I say a progressive. As it is right now I'm reloading 7 different cartridges with an 8th on the way so it's about time I add a couple convenient and at this point pretty necessary equipment. Definitely will be getting a few powder measures so I don't have to mess around with adjusting the measure each time I change to another cartridge. A proper case trimmer is also on the list and most likely will be the Lyman automated universal trimmer with carbide cutter head. I ruined myself for the Lee cutter n lock stud type trim system after doing some case conversions last spring. I've suffered enough and I think I've done my time. What do you guys think? Have I proven that I can take the next step? I've still all my fingers and have yet to make any real mistakes. David I think that's a good start for sure and will certainly get you on your way.
