I'm looking at getting into the precision rifle game this summer, with either a 308 or 6.5 rifle. I'd like to handload whatever caliber I settle on. I have experience reloading 9mm on a progressive, and very limited experience reloading .223, but no experience reloading for a precision rifle. In particular, I'd appreciate some guidance on brass prep, seating depth, OAL, etc.

Would anyone in Edmonton be interested in showing me the ropes? I'll be reading and doing my research before, but I'm a hands on/visual leaner and would appreciate an opportunity to watch and learn from someone with more experience than myself. I'd like to make the transition into reloading rifle safely, and by avoiding as many of the beginner mistakes as possible. I'm more than happy to to compensate with food, drink, money, etc.

Feel free to PM me if you'd be interested. My schedule is fairly prohibitive with exams for the next month, but will open up in May.

Thanks in advance.

I keep things pretty simple with my reloading, no annealing, no neck turning, just clean size, trim, prime, load but it works for me. I've built plenty of loads that shoot 1 moa or better in a decent rifle. Once you have the basics you can take it as far as you want.
To me the extra time spent doing the other stuff isn't worth the fractions of an inch it gains. It is worth it if you want smaller groups but for me it's enough the way I do it.

I'm just under an hour North of Edmonton, Have all my reloading gear in the shop with a 100 yard range 10 feet out the back door. If you want to come out for an afternoon I can show you what I do and we can do a little load development for your rifle.

I'm just going into shutdown at work though so my next 6 weeks will be a total loss for shooting.

PM me if you want to try to line up schedules late May or early June
