I have been doing a bit of testing for my AR , Reading the manuals using benchmark/55gr bullets it states I should get (22.7gr)2793FPS-(25.3gr)3137FPS. I Chroneyd some last week useing 23.9gr and was getting a little over 2700fps with no signs of pressure at all , loaded some at 24.2 and 24.5 tonight for a range day tommorow ............. I got thinking though how much velocity did I lose? the book is basing it off a 20"barrel and I am shooting a 14.5" ,could the pressure in my 23.9 load really be alot more than I am thinking due to the fact that that there is a velocity loss useing the 14.5 over the books 20" barrel ? I hope this is not to confusing:confused:

14" .223 data

I have the Nosler #4 reloader manual and it has data for pistol in .223 Rem that was tested with a 14 inch barrel. It was done with a 1-12 twist but I figure this is the closest I will get to data for a 14.5 inch barrel.
The rifle data was done with a 24 inch barrel but the load data for both rifle and pistol is identical as to max and starting loads with identical components.
By the way the max velocity load quoted for 55 gr bullets in a 14 inch barrel is 26.5 gr. of RL15 @ 2887 fps.
This is compared to 3190 fps for the identical load in a 24 inch barrel.
I am sure that you could find some other pistol data for .223 Rem. from other manufacturers made for the "pistols" like the TC Contender or other bolt guns.
