I am new to reloading.

My last load is using 148 grain HB WC's
data from here:
http://www.wwpowder.com/data/handgun/38spec.php
It says to use 3.5 to 4.0 grains of 231 with 148 gr. HDY LHBWC
I tried 3.9 grains of 231
At the range with my GP 100 and vaquero everything fine.

I just bought the lee reloading book 2nd edition.
page 565 says use 2.9 to 3.3 grains of 231 with 148 grain wadcutter.

What gives???

You'll find that every reloading manual will differ slightly in the Min & Max loads for a particular powder charge & bullet combination. Reasons why? Lots of different variables, including whether or not they use a test barrel vs. actual stock firearm, loading methods, whether or not a drop tube was used, fillers used, position of powder when round fired, primers used, brass used, etc...

That's why its always a good idea to pick up at least two good reloading manuals from different manufacturers so that you can cross-reference potential loads and adjust your starting load accordingly.
