Anyone got any good hand loads? just getting everything ready and can't seem to find alot of info on loads for it? thanks.

There are plenty of loads in Hornady, Lyman and Speer manuals.

X2. The jacketed bullets I use the most are the Hornady 350gr XTP/MAG and their 500gr FP/XTP. From Sierra, the 350gr JHP and from Speer, their 325gr HP modified with the addition of a cannelure grove. The 500gr Hornady shoots well but the other three I've mentioned are excellant!! I doubt that I'll go for any more Hornady 500grainers but I would like to try Sierra's 400gr FPJ.

Most of what I shoot are cast and I have a good source of variety and supply from a guy on this site that lives locally.
- 350gr LMN/BB
- 370gr RNFP/PB
- 410gr SW/PB
- 440gr LMN/GC

Heavy loads with either jacketed or cast, I'm using H110 in Starline cases that utilize large rifle primers for more reliable consistent ignition. With the lighter cast loads I usually go for Unique in Hornady cases and ones that take large pistol primers.

A few additional sources for reload info are;
- http://www.reloadammo.com/500sw.htm
- http://www.hodgon.com/data/pistol/500swmag.php
- http:data.hodgon.com/cartridge_load_1.asp

John Taffin of the American Handgunner had an excellant atricle in the January/Febuary 2004 issue titled The .500 S&W Magnum Cartridge. He deals with a number of aspects of loading for and shooting the 'beast'. There is also a forward to an indepth variety of reload data and that is;
- http:www.americanhandgunner.com/taffin.html.

Hope this is of help, good luck, good shooting and welcome to the club.:)
