With the price of slugs these days I'm starting think I should look into rolling my own sabots for deer hunting. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Lots of information online, but I can't seem to find a source for sabots.

I have loaded a few sabot slugs, but they were loaded in plastic wads, not sabots.

I’ve been making my own slugs for a while now, not Sabots per se, but casting the 525gr Lyman pellet slug and have had pretty good success, accuracy wise out to 100m. Trick is to get the lead, cast it, I powder coat mine, then find the right hull/wad/powder combo. Components are a challenge, but Bilozir has them as does Sporteque. You can also find components on the EE. Lyman has a very good shotshell reloading manual with Lyman slug reloading data. Great fun to do.
