I would like to get back into reloading however I am having a hard time finding a set up which I could use in a mobile (read trailer/modular)which I could set up in the spare room.I am looking for a set up that dosen't involve any bolting to the walls etc.something sturdy that can be taken apart and stored (under the bed maybe)and won't damage the floors walls etc.I must point out I am a lousy carpender as well.any ideas plans etc thanks

How about a computer desk? I live in a mobile home as well, single wide. I have a small porch on one side that is totally enclosed and has all my paintball and RC stuff in it. Its my hobby room and soon it will become my reloading room as well. Im assuming your living in a rental trailer? I ask because your not wanting to damage the floor or wall.
I know that you can pick up a relatively cheap computer desk, maybe a corner model? Whatever you get though I wouldnt be going for something that you'd want to continually setup and take down everytime you reload.

I've seen some guys use those Black & Decker Work-Mates or what ever they're called for a portable set up. Seems like a good idea, and it would be much sturdier than most portable tables.

Workbench

Hi there,

I have my Dillon XL650 :dancingbanana: install on a power tool workbench that I bought on sale for 18$ from Canadian Tire :runaway:.

Install two 48" x 36" x ¾" plywood on top and proceeded with my reloading :sniper: .

It can be a bit wobbly if you wack at it to hard but when using regular stroke it is fine.

Good Luck in your search,

Ducktape :D

the b&d work mates work well- if you want to see a really compact work station for reloading, you should see mine- it's a stereo stand, but modded with braces and things to support a lee loadmaster- 13x16x34, but for a real set- up you should see my other one- 18x25x34, and on it sits 3 lee 1000, a dillon 550, and a lee turret- on the "big one" ( it's braced with 2x6 in the middle for the dillon) i had to use BOTH sides, but they're both on wheels so they can turn round- i have the 2 1000 and the turret on the 1 side and the 223 -1000 and the dillon on the other- the dillon takes the most room b/c of the junk box that goes with- i can also link the 1000s by a threaded rod to produce both a 9mm and a 45 at the same time , but that takes two hands an amazing amount of corordination- you could link all three , but the force required to work the levers at the end would be extrodinary amd might not work- anyway, i'm scared to try it

I live in an apartment with limited space. My presses are bolted to pieces of 2x8 that I just clamp down wherever needed. Works great for taking them to the range for load development. Think people look at the benchrest guys funny with their arbor presses and their powder throwers? You should see the looks they give you when you've got an RL-550 clamped to the shooting bench with a Chargemaster going beside it.

I use a Workmate and a small stool for my reloading. The components are stored in one place, and the equipment in another between uses. The problems I face are the time it takes to rebuild the setup when I need to do something and I have to walk around everything until I'm done. Consequently I can't take on big jobs or long processes.

i made up this a few years ago,the legs screw out to make it easy to store away..

I built my first bench to fit under the stairs so it is 3 legged table cut so it has 5 sides. It moved a number of times, but for the last 20 years I work in the crawl space. When I shortened the legs, I nailed a pice of plywood to the bottom of the three legs for stabiliby. It ain't pretty but then she ain't in no beautty contest either!

For a couple of years we lived in an apartment with little space. I had a Rock-chucker clamped down onto a Work-mate and it worked well. 5 min for set up or take down and solid. Just not a lot of bench space so the coffee table always did double duty. Just make sure to ask the wife first...
