Reloading Shotgun Shells?

Okay well, I bought a couple boxes of Federal Target loads, and now I wanna roll some buck shot. Would it not be appropriate to utilize the target load hulls for this process? Somehow I'm thinking it wouldn't be a good idea. Like that target load hulls wouldn't be strong enough.

Also, I think the federal shells have feed problems in my gun.

But anyway...

Opinions?

No difference in strength of hulls, just follow loads suggested in manuals. If you have feeding issues maybe another manufacturer will be better.

Awesome. I have 500 target load shells I'll be able to use for my buck adventures...

Do you have problems with certain loads feeding? Sometimes I find I'm getting them stuck in the feeding tube in my Rem. 887. I'm pretty sure this is the only load that does it. It sorta gets hung up on the steel tang that holds the shells in the tube? I don't know the proper name for it...

The reason why your shells are getting stuck or hanging up may be due to two of these two reasons:

your loader isn't forming the brass properly

you need a better taper at your crimp.

I found that these two thing would mess with my feeding.

not all "target" loads are created equal. the Federal Gold Medal is a premium shell with a premium hull, excellent for all reloading including buckshot. The economy model as sold in wal-mart and Canadaian tire is a cheapo hull that may work, but the plastic of the tube is lower quality and the base wad may be different too.
