Just bought a 12g with a rifled barrel and would like to avoid the ridiculous price manufacturers charge by reloading my own.Can anyone point me in the right direction on which powder/wad/sabot/slug combo to use.Is it possible to use a muzzle loading bullet in a sabot?

I use a Lee 1oz key drive slug mould for casting my slugs
White wads
Winchester 209 primers
22 grains of Unique powder

You might be able to use a bullet in a sabot. Just be careful of the weight. I think you'd have a hard time getting over a 1oz bullet, but I've been proved wrong before. Things I've loaded into a shot shell....rice....confetti....flour.....flour in a plastic bag....rice in a plastic bag.....single o buckshot....triple o buckshot.....1 oz slugs. I put 22 grains of Unique power under all of them...I'm still here.

"...the ridiculous price..." Worst of it is the silly 5 round boxes. You're working up a load for a big rifle. Most shotgun manuals have slug loads. There is slug data on Hodgdon's site too.
"...muzzle loading bullet..." Might be too soft.

I load the 1oz Lee slugs Win Hulls and Win 114 (yellow) wads, 209 primers, 32.5gr HS6 Max per Lee data is 36grs. Lee Load all bushing 141 Per the data if I remember correctly it is about a 12 - 1300fps load that is great for busting up water jugs.
