I'm planning on buying an AR-15 soon enough, and by the same occasion, I'll start reloading the same caliber.

Question 1 : What brand of commercial ammunition should I buy to get the best 'once-fired' brass out of it.

Question 2 : What brand offers 55 gr. FMJ bullets for reloading. Since I'll use it mostly for target-plinking at the range, fancy Hollowpoints of V-Max type aren't the most cost-effective... (Found my answer, Lebaron should have them)

Question 3 : How many loads will a typical .223 case survive with regular load (not too hot nor to weak, just enough to cycle the action with a little margin)

Thanks

Thanks for the head's up. I saw them a while ago and simply forgot about it.

Still need help with the other points.

Thanks

First. It is important to know the twist rate of the barrel. That will determine the weight or length of bullet you will use. A 1 in 12 will be fine with 55 grain and under. If it is a 1 in 7 or 1 in 9 twist you need to use a 62 grain or higher. Go to the Ammo Oricle web site. There they explain all this way better then I can. My AR 15 is a 1 in 12 SP1 rifle. I shoot 55 grain Hornady FMJBT over 25 grains of H335 with small rifle mag primers. Easily puts 5 rounds in an inch at 100 meters rested. Standing is another story?

Q #1: Winchester USA brand (white box) 55 grain fmj produces the best brass for the buck (if you feel like new, a bag of new Winchester brass is about 22$ per 100)
Q #2: I totally concure, deal with Barney, great guy, good bullets! Hornady HPBTs in 68gr. are a good, cheap match-type bullet.
Q #3: I generally trip over once fired brass, so replenishing it is not a problem for me. I don't think I've loaded a 5.56 case for my AR more than 4 or 5 times, before loosing or pitching it.

I'm also looking for reloading components for 223. Can you tell me who Hungry or Barney are and who they're associated with? Any help would be appreciated.
