Reloading used Primers?

Been doing some research on this myself, assuming your talking of the h48 compound, only real problem is finding antimony sulfide or stibnite in Canada. Only labs make this and I was quoted 175 for 50grams. With spillage and lose in there primers are going to be expensive, not including your time. Unless you know where to get it for cheap. In the states it looks much easier to come by at fair price.

Hey, yes h48 was one of the compounds I came across. I seen that you can buy Prime all from the US ( they will ship it to you anyways as per website checkout ) not dure if anyones been able to get the stuff. I should have been a chemist...

so let me get this straight...

your are going to
-push out the old primer
-remove the anvil
-pop the primer back down to shape so your firing pin can strike it
-put in new compound
-reinstall the anvil
-reseat inthe case

most of the repriming compound is intended for rimfire from my understanding.

175 for 50 grams isn't horrendous in todays primer market... thats in theory enough to make over 1300 LMR primers

When it’s pretty much the only option it is what it is. I have done it and it isn’t that time consuming it can be done fairly quickly once you get the hang of it. Beats paying $500 for 1000 large rifle primers.

What exactly have you done? Matches, toy caps ir prime all or have you managed to actually do the h48,

I've done it with paper roll caps in black powder cartridges.
I want to try some with smokeless when I get a chance. I'm definitely not paying 50 cents or more for large rifle primers.

Iv heard rumors from my LGS , that they come across fine, but can't say iv done it myself. but at 20usd and probably more for shipping, looks to me like it would be more expensive then the 50c primers. Says 2000 22lr per package, so maybe 1000 large primers, saying you don't mess up or the learning curve.

Cheapest ive seen is 20 for the prime all and 25 for shipping (usd). Any interest if i ordered a handfull of them? Cant see them being too much to ship CP.

I am tempted to order the prime all. They say they ship it in 4 separate so it is inert when shipped. then you gotta blend as needed when ready,

I can see doing that for reloading 41 rimfire or similar weird cases. Or maybe for an insight into how to function well after total shtf scenarios.

Shooting for fun, I'll switch to what I still have ammo for. And after that I've got several flintlocks that don't get enough use anyway!
