Hi

I have just purchased a Martini sporting rifle in 577/450 and was wondering that since this is a single shot rifle(no magazine to go thru) and that these cases will be only fired in this gun , could I get by without using dies to load
the cases.I ll be using a paperpatch bullet which should be a friction fit in the case mouth so I figured neck sizing wouldn t be needed either.

Although your casings would be fireformed to your rifle, I would imagine you would still have to neck size the case? Then again, I don't know what a 577/450 cartridge looks like.

you shouldn't need dies, especially once you fireform them to your chamber, you must use blackpowder though, and the full case will preclude the bullet falling into case, the "no neck tension plan" can work as the bullet will be touching the lands, and Black powder will make it go(as it was meant to)...the only problem can be; getting an unfired round out of the chamber, and carrying loaded rounds afield. This is how i get my best accuracy with Bl. Powder .45 cal. target rifles.

Non-resized cases may be difficult to get into the chamber. The necks will likely be too big. A magazine doesn't have anything to do with resizing.
Go here for a how-to for reloadable turned cases made from 3/4" bar stock. It'll show Griffoneur what one looks like too. http://lweb.net/tom/577-450.PDF

Now that is something I have never seen before. You insert a paper load into a brass cartridge??? Sort of like a hybrid black powder rifle?

If the cases came out of the chamber they should go back in, you don't need any case neck tension, and it shouldn't pose a problem in the Martini Henry's magazine.

The brass case and the paper cartridge are 2 different instructions . The brass case is just that dimensions to make brass cases. The paper cartridge is a separate instruction for a different application , read the very last paragraph. www.leeprecision.com sells dies for .577/450 and .577 SNIDER and they work in their new Classic press.
