So, I hit the range this evening for the first time with my 45ACP reloads.

Twice in 50 rounds, the spent cartridge didn't eject properly, causing the gun to jam. It's never jammed using factory ammo.

Any idea what the cause might be and things I should check for?

Thanks!

45 jamming

If these are stovepiping in the chamber the most likely cause is not enough powder. however not knowing what kind of jam you are expieriencing this is only a guess.

Sorry for the lack of info, 45ACP in a Springfield XD .45 Tactical, 6.2 grains of WSF with a 230 grain FMJ slug.

The rounds weren't sticking in the chamber, they just didn't seem to eject with enough enthusiasm, and caught in the slide when it snapped shut, preventing the slide from closing and the next round from chambering.

Does the slide lock back on the last round?
I am not familiar with the powder or charge but it could be either the load is too light and the slide is not coming back hard and fast enough, or that the load is too heavy causing you to limp wrist the gun.

The type of jam you are describing normally happens with a light load. The slide doesn't go back far enough to eject the case, but far enough back to strip the next cartridge off the magazine.
As you describe, since it only happened twice in 50 rounds, I would suspect uneven powder measuring. You might have a couple of reloaded rounds with slightly less powder than the rest.
What are you using to load the rounds - Lee 1000? I ask that because the original powder measure with the spring return had a history of occasionally short changing the powder weight.

Yeah, that sounds about right, on one round, the slide didn't lock back after the last shot. Combined with the two jams, that's three total that didn't quite make the grade out of 50 shots, so it doesn't sound like it was light by a great deal.

I'll try upping the dosage slightly on my next run. Better too little powder than too much I guess :)
