Which is a better shotgun for a diet of buckshot, slug type ammo ie tactical

i have the 11/87 police model and it is my favorate shotgun, and it is designed to be used with 00 buck. they can be hard to find though. and cant get more tatical than a police model.

and they usually come with ghost ring sights.

I have 11-87P...worked through 1500 rounds of birdshot with only 2 FTE.

Out of the two you ask...go 11-87. You might never need the extra .25", but it's nice to have if you want it.

I have a few 1100s and an 11-87.

The one thing about the 11-87 is that it takes more recoil to cycle properly than any of my 1100s.

The 1100s are happy to cycle even ultra low recoil (7/8 oz @ 1100 FPS #9) but the 11-87 will only cycle 1-1/8 @ 1250 FPS loads and about 10% of the time it won't even cycle those (it loves heavier/faster loads than that, though)

I have 2 1187 premiers, 18.5" barrel and a 21" barrel, they cycle 1oz and 1 1/8 challengers just fine. Depends on the 1187 model and port sizes I believe. There is a chart if you search the web that has the different models and port sizes.
