rem 11-87

If you have one and want to use it to shoot trap, go ahead. They will break clays as well as anything. But if you are asking whether you should buy one specifically to shoot trap there are many other semiauto options that are better and in a similar price range. The 1100 Competition for example.

agreed, the 1100 competition is a better choice. I have seen several at the club and they seem very solid. I shot sporting clay with a 1187, 3" gun. I could not get around the course before it started to miss feed. They have problems with light loads when dirty. But I did kill a lot of ducks with that gun. the heavier loads work fine. Probably not the best choice for a target gun

I've been using an 1100 special field for clay shooting for the past year. It's never misfed a single load and I've had days where I shot well over 300 rounds of target loads in a span of 2 hours.

The 11-87 is the newer version of the 1100. So I don't see any issues with it, at least based on my personnal experience.

I have a 1994 Rem 1187 Premier 3". It cycles everything flawlessly, even the Score Low Recoil #8 loads I buy for the ladies of the farm. No complaints about the piece. It just works.
