Rem 1100, 11-87 or Beretta

What is the difference between the 1100 and 11-87. I know about the Beretta because that is what I have always used. Am I better off to buy a new Rem or a used Beretta for my young guy just starting out.
 
Remington autoloaders are notorious for cycling problems. Unless you carry out an unbelievably anal cleaning regime. I would go with a Browning b-80 ( I think there is one in the EE now) the are a Beretta 303 in Browning colors. They are usually a little cheaper too. However don't expect the magnum version to cycle light loads reliably.
