I have a brand new never used Remington 1100 20 ga standard weight receiver only.

Looking to build a shot gun out of this or sell the receiver. Looks like getting all the parts and barrel for this won't be easy. I know the standard weights are sought after by skeet shooters, but anyone know where I could get a complete set of parts and barrel? Stocks would be easy to get, but still need the bolt, trigger group assembly and all action parts for this.

IMO Not worth trying to build it. The price of a barrel alone if you can find it would put you way over what the gun would be worth completed.
Best to try to sell the receiver which I think again would be a tough sell since the sought after by skeet shooters would have been in the late 70's not today. May find a guy with a worn mag tube that may be interested
I still have my original pair of these in 20ga plus a NIB with a IC barrel I think??. Must have put a few 100,000 rounds through them years ago and honestly cannot remember replacing anything but an o ring. They did not break parts like the 12ga did.
Yes sir to shoot the 4 gauges with 1100's you needed 8 of them and a tackle box full of spare parts
Cheers

Suspect 3macs1 is correct. It's not worth the time and money for an 1100. Plus, there's more to it than just assembling the parts. Shotguns have headspace too and it'll cost a fortune to get all the parts. Gunparts, for example, wants $101.25US for an 'Action Bar Assembly, 20 LT'. They sell trigger groups as separate parts only. A 'Trigger Plate Pin Bushing' runs $6.60US. Western Gun Parts will likely be higher.
However, you need to contact the same parts shops the Milsurp guys patronize. Gun Parts Corp and Western Gun Parts.

The x frame is an animal all on it's own not even close to a 20 lt. Even if you can build it you have created a 400-500.00 gun if mint as you say not worth the time and money. Has to be close to 40 years since they made one of these some say 73 but I seen them in 78 or 79 being sold new but may have been old stock
The LW 20 ga for sure came out on 69/70

Thanks guys. After looking around and even if I could get the parts I'd be well into a $1000 or more for it.

3macs1,
I was wondering if this X-frame could be made to shoot in 12 gauge also with standard 12 ga. 1100 parts or is the receiver designed differently?

Got me on that one. I have never had an extra parts 20 ga receiver to even play with. What I do know is the long lug used on the 20ga barrel is the same as on a 12ga barrel so the barrel will go in and the other end the stock is a 12ga.
Also in an old book they have the same rem parts number but that doesn't mean some mods had to be made after you got the part to make it work on a 20ga
My guess is yes but I am not 100%. Sorry

Yep, 12 gauge barrel go right in no problem. I'll strip my 1100 and install all the parts someday and see for myself when I do a complete cleanup.
If it works it becomes a spare receiver then.

As luck would have it on the EE, I now have a 20ga SW X-frame complete gun with VR 28" Mod choked on it's way in mint condition.
Looking forward to checking that out and the technicals of it. I now have a spare receiver for it.

It's been a good day. :)

I doubt that you will ever need the spare receiver, but the SW 1100 is a good gun and you will enjoy it. I have one with a fixed skeet choke and it is a good skeet gun. Unfortunately, spare barrels are no longer made and used ones are hard to come by.

You will enjoy shooting that X-frame gun. Virtually no recoil with target loads.
Gun showed up today and it's mint alright. I don't think it's ever been fired much since factory. All the bluing in and out shows no wear marks.
Fired my Cooey 84 in 20ga for recoil comparison with a T-shirt on today. The Cooey had recoil and started to bother me after 5 rounds. Two boxes later of the same standard 7/8oz target loads out of the 1100 and I never felt anything at the shoulder. Like day and night!

Just recieved one of these x frame 20ga last week from fellow CGNer .2 3/4 " chamber 28" full choke with the lop shortened to 13" other than that the gun is mint and has very limited use as the blueing is not even woren on the barrel extension or the mag tube where the action tube runs . the full choke is being reamed out to light mod and the gun will be the girl friends new sporting clays gun . I was lucky to find a synthetic 1100 stock set at a local shop for cheap so I can change the stock out for my own use . have to agree recoil is non exsistent with this little gem .

Keep a spare o ring in your wallet since the rest is bullet proof
I still have mine and they have shot a lot of skeet
One thing you may want to try is if you ever order anything from Numrich is to pick up one of the adjustable mag tube weights
I have them on mine and find it helped with my swing especially when I was shooting all four gauges
They vanished for years and were impossible to find but now I see they are remaking them for under 20 bucks
take care
