Rem 1100 3"???

If the 2/34 shells won't cycle out of a 2/34 inch chambered barrel, there is something wrong. For the 2 34 inch barrel, are there two gas ports in the barrel or just one. Take the barrel off and look inside the cone under the barrel. You should see two ports for 2/34. For a magnum barrel you should see one port. The other thing I would do, assuming you have not done this already, is take the gun right apart and give it a thorough cleaning, including removing the return spring and components from the stock. As I stated above, if 2 3/34 inch shells won't cycle there is something wrong. Another thing to look at is that the gas seal "O" ring is not missing, and is intact, because the gun the probably won't cycle without the O ring. Though, I have seen some function flawlessly without the O ring. However, not reccomended.

In regards to your question on the 3'' barrel. Is it one of the new 3'' steel shot barrels with the removable chokes?. If it is, Remington states that you can use only 3'' steel shot shells with a non magnum receiver, if that is what you have. If it's a magnum receiver, and MAGNUM will be stamped on the lower right rear of the receiver then you can use 3'' steel or lead. If your barrel is not a steel shot barrel then I probably would not be using 3'' steel or lead out of a non magnum receiver. I don't really know what the difference is between a magnum and non magnum receivers, because to me they look the same, but that's what Remington states.

Sorry, after that long winded post I realized I misread the question. Disregard the part about taking the gun apart, cleaning it, and checking the O ring. The gun with the 3'' barrel should cycle heavy 2/34 inch loads, emphasis on should. The barrel has only one port so it is meant for heavy loads only. 3" shells will function flawlessly.
