I am new to shotguns and just bought a Rem 1100 and I disassembled it to clean it and I'm having a bit of a problem getting it back together. Whe I go to slide the action bar back in , it keeps catching on the link and won't let it go in all the way. I can't seem to figure out the proper position for the link in the receiver. Pics would be great (if possible). Could somebody please lend a hand to a newbie shotgun guy.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Bud 1100's can be a SOB. Go to Remington's web site for a manual and schematic. I have found it easier to fit the link first then fit the action bar and breech block. Be careful the link can fit two ways with the wrong way being a disaster. Shotgun World (one word.com) is also a great reference point for Remington 110"s.

1100 problems

Make sure you have the shell stop bar depressed as you slide the action bar
assembly in .These are the ones you depressed to get it apart. I had the same problem when i first got into shotgun.Having arem 870 helps cause
they come apart the same way .hope this helped.

the two prong end of the link should be facing stock end ?? correct. and the other end meets the action bar as it enters the chamber..right?

I think my link my be broken. Are the two prongs on the one end together or seperated? Thanks for the help anyway fellows but I think I will take it in to get it put back together.

Gopher7, the two prongs are supposed to be seperated. They must be pinched together and fitted into a cup at the buttstock end of your receiver. This is where your action spring is located. The flat end faces/contacts your bolt carrier. Best to use needle nosed plyers and pinch the two prongs together and insert them into the cup first. Then install your action bar sleeve with the bolt and bolt carrier. Follow this link and it will show you how to completey assemble/disassemble an 1100. Any problems just PM me;)

Glad I could be of some assistance ;) One word of warning there grasshopper, "the use of 1100's has been proven to cause addiction in labratory animals". It starts out with one, then another, and another......:D
