I know nothing about shotguns, but a friend wants to put a 20" or so barrel on an 1100. Presently has a 30" x 3" mag. barrel with a vent rib. At first he just wanted the barrel cut but I discouraged that. What options do we have?? Thanks, Mark

What's his budget like? 1100 barrels aren't usually too expensive. I'd be inclined to just buy a new one at the gun store. That way he'll still be able to use screw in chokes that come standard with new barrels. If you cut the barrel down 10" you'll be stuck with cylinder bore all the time.

OK do they screw off, or have a lock system? Looks like the forearm comes off then the barrel.Special tool req'd?? Thanks, Mark

Hey Cancer, I just had my 30" fixed full choke 2 3/4" Rem 1100 barrel chopped to 21" and threaded for RemChoke last week. If the barrel meets minimum thickness at chopping site, then it is possible.:dancingbanana:
