When I try to disassemble my Rem 1100 shotgun following the procedure outlined in the Remington manual, everything works fine until I get to the part where you have to hold the feed latch depressed to remove the action bar assembly.

The assembly only slides out part of the way then hits something which I can't see. Can anyone provide an explanation?

Stick one of the trigger pins back in its hole to make sure the feed latch isn"t moving forward on you.
I assume you have the piston and barrel seal removed.

It is probably hitting the feed latch you are supposed to depress... ease it back and forth gently while depressing the feed latch... it should move through it..

as the above post stated... maybe insert the rear pin to make sure it doesn't shift...

Maybe you are over your head in this...?

I'm really going by the book here, guys. Grouse Man, I did mention that I was following the procedure from the Remington manual. Smoji, at that stage the trigger assembly has not been removed yet.

I do hold the feed latch fully depressed and I will try again moving the assembly back and forth to see if I can get it to clear the latch.

Thanks everyone for the tips.
