It shoots fine,
ejects the shell,
next shell comes from the magazine,
but doesn't load, I need to push the release thing on the loading port.
Then it loads and I can shoot again/
I'm shooting 3" BB loads.

So I'm confused, maybe it just needs cleaning?

Might need a new magazine spring. The force of the shell coming out the tube kinda hits the release with enough pressure to close the action.

Also, it's never a bad idea to replace the o-ring. A faulty one will cause cycling issues as well.

Reminton 1100s are highly prone to failures caused by that STUPID MOFO gas o-ring (Yes, I own an 1100). Check to see if it's seated right. If it is, consider replacing it. In a nutshell, if that o-ring isn't functioning properly, there won't be enough gas directed backwards to allow everything to cycle properly. I get the same problem from time to time with my 2-3/4" 1100, so I keep plenty of spare o-rings around with my shotgun.

Clean the trigger group, paying attention to the triggering latch thingie that allows the bolt to come forward after a shell has popped in.

Also the magazine spring could be weak (compressed after all these years) and not firing the next shell back hard enough to trigger that latch thingie. Replacement springs are cheap.

Thanks guys, I will give the gun a good cleaning first and start with the cheap parts first if I think that something may need to be replaced. I hope it just needs to be cleaned good.

The best thing you can do for yourself is use BreakFree CLP on the gas system parts and magazine tube. Any other lube I've found just gets burned in with powder residue. Not so CLP; it stays wet and powder residue wipes off with a rag. Cleanup becomes a 1 minute breeze instead of 30 minutes of soaking and scraping and brushing.

Not to insult anyone, I once did own a 1100 and two 11-87's, but I had enough of the Remington rubber problems failing when you needed them most? We are talking about a gun costing over $1000 not a $100. I just hate that Remington workmanship. SORRY guys just reading about it makes me sick.
