I purchased a new 26" barrel with interchangeable choke tubes for my old fixed choke 1100.However it does not seem to like cycling target loads, but will heavier high brass loads. The original 30" barrel does cycle target loads just fine. The new barrel like the original is chambered for only 2 3/4" shells and has the 2 gas ports. The ports are clear of debris and appear the same size as in the original.I also installed a new O ring.Any ideas as to why?Part of the reason for the upgrade was to do some skeet shooting but I need more than a single shot.

You say it does not cycle ? Does the fired shell eject .stovepipe or stay in the chamber . You might try the old polish the chamber trick .

Ahh I see.Virgin chamber holding the shell a little too tightly:)I assume this will loosen up with use, polishing just gets us there sooner?

No, its just crappy manufacturing by Remington to save a buck on their end.

No gun should leave the factory requiring it to be polished in order to perform a basic task.

I was using el cheapo Winchester Universal 7 1/2.Not sure if it is a useful indicator but I tried pushing a spent shell casing into the chambers of both the new and old barrels. Both seemed to require roughly the same amount of force to insert and remove.

My Daughters Benelli M2 spit these out without issue as well.

Are those the Walmart brand junk shells? They won't even cycle in my sx3 that has zero issues with lighter target loads.

Get a chamber hone from Brownells, do it to all your shotguns and you'll see an improvement. I've had no problem with my versa Max but had to do this to my Benelli to improve reliability. I do it to all my 870's and no issues. Keep in mind the 870's a 400$ shotgun.

FTGV, switch ammo, Winchester Universals have a reputation of sticking in damn near anything you put them in. The Benelli is designed to digest anything it's fed, the Remington 1100 was designed to different specifications and can be ammo fussy as a result.

My buddy was shooting 2 3/4 dram Winchester super target loads last night out of his Maxus and it would not eject them either and his gun continually jammed trying to shoot doubles trap. The casings from the base to about 1/2"-3/4" above the base swell and stick. My o/u won't even eject them clearly 50% of the time. He ran Federal Top Gun 2 3/4 dram after that an not an issue. Spits them out slick as can be. Change ammo.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I am not a fan of the cheapo winchester loads.. steer clear! Nothing but problems!

A friend was shooting these last Sunday & found one shell with a large bulge just above the base. it appeared that some shot was between the solid part of the wad & the plastic shell case. He chose NOT to use it.

I refuse to buy the cheapy Winchester junk.
