this is a pretty general question, but which is preferred. there is a used m1 at the local gun store that sems a little overpriced at $1100, or pick up a new rem 1100. from what the gun store owner tld me, the m1 is set up for 3 gun. all i saw was a ported barrel and wood furniture. ive been debating this with my selfe for a few months now. what do you guys think

Lots of unanswered questions in there:
- What do you want to use the gun for - field or sporting ?
- If the M1 is ported and was used for three gun is it high mileage and who ported the gun ? The M1 S90 isn't factory ported.
- I'd personally stay away from both as went the 1100 route in the past and not impressed and for a messed with M1 I'd pass at that price.

I put a lot of rounds through my shotguns with the majority on Sporting Clays and Skeet. Of the five 1100's that I've owned I have nothing bad to say on looks, handling and comfortable to shoot. Somewhere in the course of a day shooting with a 1100 I would always have one or more gun failures with not ejecting properly or locking open and not loading the second shell.
My 1100's were always well cleaned and properly lubed with the "O" rings maintained. I can miss enough birds on my own without worrying about gun malfunctions.
A lot of people swear by their 1100's but IMO there are better guns of a better design on the market today along the lines of Beretta, Benelli and Browning. I don't have any experience in shooting the new Remington CTI's ? but suggest the jury is still out on them as to how they prove out.
Not bashing the 1100's as there are millions of them out there just not the gun for me. If your buying a used one in the $400.00 to $500.00 range give it a run and see for yourself. If your coughing up in the 1K range for a new 1100 take a hard look at the Beretta 391's.
Again, don't know what you want the gun for or how many rounds you plan to shoot so all that factors into your decision along with cost.
