Rem 1100 question

This might seem stupid, but here goes. I've only owned one semi till now and its a Beretta A400. If the gun has not been fired the bolt will not hold open. I have now bought a used Rem 1100 and the bolt will always hold itself open regardless of whether or not the gun was fired. Is this normal? It just seems odd to me.

Yes this is normal . your a400 will stay open as well if you depress the button on the bottom of the receiver .

Yes it's normal. Unlike Beretta, Remington actually designed a smarter system in that the bolt stays locked back when opened manually without having to depress buttons etc. i hate that feature on Beretta semi's.

I was pretty sure it was normal. It's just that I pulled it apart and cleaned it before I really tested it. I thought I may have screwed something up. Not sure I would say the 1100 is a better system, but it's a good shotgun in my opinion.

it is a better system and has proven it self for many many years ,it just plain works .and the only parts you may ever need is a rubber o ring every few years ,,enjoy your new gun Dutch
