Heres a question I'm unable to get a positive answer for:
I've got a Remington 1100 3" Magnum and I'd like to know if I can switch a
2 3/4 " slug barrel onto it....would it work and function properly or will it only work with a barrel chambered for 3", and using 3" loads.
I was told it would work with both , but I'm just a bit doubtful.
I'd really appreciate hearing from someone who has played with one of these old guys.

You can switch to a 2 & 3/4 inch barrel and it will work fine with 2 & 3/4 inch shells. The 3 inch barrel only works with 3 inch and some 2 & 3/4 magnums.

You should try a 2 3/4 inch load in your 3 inch first . See if the gun will eject the cartridge , some of the older 3" models would not cycle 2 3/4 shells.
The barrel determines the shell you can shoot from an 1100

times two for what Dennis says, I switch out bbls on my 1100 quite a bit, for hunting and trap shooting.
By the way syecod, you're partially right , IMHO. Most 1100s' will eject 2 3/4" hulls when they are spotlessly clean, or its not to cold, but if you're going to hunt with it, it's not worth takeing the chance. It's actually the size of the porting of the gas vent that makes it work. bearhunter
