A friend asked me to give his 541S a good cleaning as he was dissatisfied with its accuracy - open groups. Gave it a good cleaning, not seem fouled and no apparent issues with chamber or bore, crown looks nice too.

Have not seen one before, interesting bolt, looks like a well made rifle that should shoot well. Any experiences with these or suggestions?

Have not shot it myself but do trust the fellow if he says it doesnt shoot well.

I have owned several 541S & T rifles, and all were incredibly accurate. I still own two, and have no plans of getting rid of either of them. If it is not shooting well, there is something wrong! A good bedding might be the ticket, particularly if his is a single screw action. A number of late production 541T's lack the match chamber, but the 541S rifles all had the tighter chmaber, so he should not have problems making it shoot. Which ammo has he tried? Both mine like Lapua Super Club and RWS Rifle Match. Regards, Eagleye.

The only ones I have seen that didn't shoot excellent, had bedding problems, after that corrected they are tack drivers with good ammo.

Check out rimfire central web site for a ton of good info. on the 541 and others.

I have a 541S that needed to be bedded/floated & trigger adjusted before it shot well. I have shot the occassional 50 yard group well less than half inch with mine (0.25"). They're a real find these days, but the 5 shot magazines are rare so try not to lose them.
