Bought a Rem 597 22 WMR about 7 years ago and it has sat in my gunroom unfired, magazines unloaded. Well I went to load it up the other day and both magazines would not function properly. One was still in the Remington wrap. These are clean and unused. The problem is that they will at most take 2 shells before it sticks and jams.
That being said I called the Canadian agent Gravel Agencies. I spoke to a fellow there who said the gunsmith said there was a problem but that because they have a two year warranty, they couldn't help. I explained that I have many unfired rifles and that because I started snaring coyotes this year that I started using it.
I don't get it.
If there was a factory defect does the two year warranty absolve them from this. This company seems shady! This seems like a company whose customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Has any body bought one lately and how do the new magazines function? Not going to waste my money if they are still junk.

Never had to do that with a new mag. Well I did it and stretched out the spring and it seems to work better. Obviously they come with a weak spring. Not sure why Remington Canada never told me to do it FFS. Are the followers still plastic?
