Rem 597 Heavy Barrel VRS 597 20" barrel

most say that the 16'' is actually considered to be more accurate due to less harmonic resonance in the barrel and that the projectile has reached maximum velocity at 15 inches.
i have the 20'' and if i could do it again i'd go for the 16'' threaded barrel, but either way you go,they are wicked accurate!
a bit of polishing to the guide rods and replacement of the hammer to a volquartsen hammer will reduce the hard trigger to a crisp 2.5lbs.
personally,i find it is super easy to dis assemble for cleaning.add a boyds evolution or varmint stock in the future for an awesome touch!

my avatar is a 10 shot group at 25 meters using thunderbolt :p ammo.

I have the 597 in the TVP flavor, comes with the boyds evotuition stock and 20" heavy barrel. Haven't done the hammer job but still very accurate and fun. Worth considering.

I have the 20" STD barrel and I can do 1/2" groups @50yds but the 16" HB can do the same so just get what you prefer. If I could do it again I'd go for the 16'' HB just for the looks. I have never seen 20" HB for sale in any store in Canada but that would be my #1 choice.

all the local canadian tire stores here have the 20'' hb w/scope combo for 269.99
