I had trigger issues with my 597. It seems to have been a fairly common one where a retaining washer didn't fit properly and I could shoot about 50 rounds then take the assembly out, push the washer back in and keep shooting. So I sent it to the Canadian warranty center. They didn't have any new replacements, Rem USA said they were backordered too, but the warranty center said the gunsmith had a used one that he had tested and it was fine. I just want to shoot, don't care if I get a used part back as long as it works so I told them to send it.
Put the new assembly in today and off to the range. I would have one FTF every other a mag. Figured maybe I was riding the trigger and not allowing it to reset. It was shooting nice, a big ragged hole at 20 yds with bulk blazer ammo.
Then I had a slam fire? Pulled the trigger and 3 rounds went off. I had previously adjusted the the retaining screws so that the rails were straight, and the only trouble I was having before this was the trigger issue that I had sent in for warranty. Could the refurb trigger cause this problem?
I also posted this on rimfire central for those of you that browse over there.

Not sure about your slamfire issue but I have had troubles with my 597 (.22) as well. I can only put 20-25 rounds in the mag (30 rounder), any more and it will jam. Once I had that figured it was cool for a little bit then I had an out of battery and at one point (no real damage and had glasses on). Then it seemed like it was trying to load 2 rounds at once, weird but that's what it seemed like. I stripped the gun completely, cleaned it and re assembled and its been fine lately but still can't fully load mag, just 20-25 rounds the full 30 still causes a jam. Remington QC on these was shotty I think, my buddy had one and it nearly blew up on him, he didn't get into the story just said that it sorta blew up in his face and he sent it in for warranty work. I'm assuming he had a bad out of battery or shot one round into the other on a double feed but I'm purely just guessing. I will stick to Ruger for the .22 caliber category from now on, I've at least learned that. I know this doesn't help but figured I'd share my trials with it, help ease your pain and know your not alone, lol.
