Question for 597 owners; do you have your rifle scoped or do you use iron sights? (I don't want a red dot on this gun)...

Edit: I think I’m going to go for it and it scoped… I’m looking to spend $50-75 so what is my best bet? I would prefer 3-9+ x 32-40? Would Wal mart or Can Tire be my best bet as far as prices go? Or waht would be the best place to buy?

I tried shooting my 597 with the original sights. I cant seem to zero the original damn "big game" sight. So decided to scope mine with Bushnell Banner Dusk/Dawn 4x12x40mm. What a difference!!!!!!
You'll be amazed how fun it is to shoot a rimfire from 100 yds even 150 yds with a decent scope. I am having fun with mine.
Just my two cents.

I have a 597 .22 mag with a scope on it "Bushnell rimfire 3-9X32" ... plan to change eventually for something better,

I have a Tasco Mag 3-9x32 on my Mossberg semi, pretty much identical to the Bushnell's mentioned above, great for small game and plinking, which is what I use a 22 for. I also have an old single shot Cooey and use the original iron sights on that one, also good for small game and plinking. What you intend to use the gun for will really determine what you need for a scope or sights.

I had mine scoped for a while with a 3-9x42 Ruko scope. I now run my 597 just with the iron sights. They are very good sights IMHO and the gun shoots bang on with them.
