Rem 5R, 700 xcrtactical, 700p

I have a700P in 223 and one in 308 with 'cheap surplus' they are both under 1" @ 100 If thats 'the look' you seek they are hard to beat I guess.........

Differences are in the stocks and barrels. The 5R has a special type of rifling that is supposed to be super accurate and make cleaning the barrel easier. They all have decent stocks. Basically can't go wrong with any of them. Pick the one that you like the looks of the best.

Well, apparently the propaganda worked with you anyway...;)

You stand an equal chance of getting a rifle that will shoot like a house of fire spending $300 or $3000. You also stand just as great a chance to buy one that is mediocre -or downright junk

Factory barrels are a complete and total crap shoot. If these barrels were that good and consistent, trust me, I would use them. (hint: I don't)

Save your money of the expensive factory gun and spend it on a good scope. You can always make a cheap rifle shoot better than the best factory rifle by putting a true match-grade barrel on it.

It all boils down to what is most important to you.

Got to agree with that statement. I`ve spent afew thousand on gorgeous looking guns that shot like a $250 dollar gun. On the flip side I`ve bought cheaper guns that shot better than me.

Buy the gun you want and re-barrel it with a barrel built buy a proven barrel maker. Most cases it can be done for a fraction of the price of expensive guns.

I spent $2300 total on my 5R Milspec, base, rings and used 4.5-14 Mark 4 included I then used said rifle (with 5lb trigger) to place in the top ten in last years BCRA tactical shoot.

IMHO Time behind the rifle produces better results than time spent writing cheques.
