Legally yes. any calibre larger than .23, and they dropped the minimum cartridge case requirement a few years ago after the WSMs started coming out
The energy of a 6.8 should be ample for deer etc, you can handload .277 cal bullets into it for a good selection of terminal performance.

An XCR in 6.8 would be a nifty little thick bush gun for deer.
