I recently purchased a Remington 600 Mohawk action with a homemade stock but I am not sure the stock is going to be any good for me or would need extensive work to get it fixed up to what I think it should be.

I was curious if the action would bolt into a Rem 700 stock without much, if any, modifcation to the stock.
If not, what Rem model stock would it fit in?

Thanks
Richard

A 700 stock isn't going to be usable with a 600 barrelled action without serious rework. A Model 7 stock would be closer, but the trigger mechanism and trigger position is different, as are the bolt handles. Don't know how the screw spacing compares.

I wouldn't mind having to hog some wood out to accommodate the dog leg bolt and or trigger assembly. I can Bubba with the best of them. I was looking more for the bolt spacing to fit the action to the stock right.

Inexpensive? Now your speaking my language :D

I am basically looking to build a Varmint rifle not a target gun so cheap is good. I might just take the stock and action to my gunsmith and get his opinion as to whether the stock I have will do or not. For a homemade stock it's actually not bad, it just looks like it should have more "meat" around the rear bolt and the action itself.
