Hey, im just wondering if anybody knows a resonably priced bottom metal with detachable mags for a remington 700 in 223. I can find it for 308 based cartridges but nothing for the 223, or atleast nothing in canada. Anybody have any suggestions. Not looking to spend too much money (sub 200$). If i cant find anything i definitely wont cry over it just wonderin if anybody here can point me in the right direction!

I went with a Magpul Hunter 700 stock and magwell on my stainless Rem 700 VTR I also bought five 10 round MDT mags fit is excellent.

If you only want the magwell there are a couple of Youtube videos of guys installing the (yes its plastic) Magpul magwell into their Rem 700 rifles.

I highly recommend the MDT mags.

Just found this thread here on CGN https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1327214-Remmy-M700-Stock-meets-Magpul-700-Magazine-adapter-the-Dremel-Approach

Yo, CampCook.... that's my Dremel job and I love how everything turned out. I'm setup with a .22-250 barrel (factory) on that Remmy M700 SA RH receiver for coyotes this season. I know a job like this can get ugly fast, but hey, it's done on an SPS Camo Youth stock, the one I take hunting each November (wearing lots of clothing at the deer stand). Take your time, go slow, remove a bit at a time, trial fit like crazy. I'm quite proud of this modification because it works and works well. The Magpul 5 rounders works super well and not a single hangup on the range stressing - shooting sessions. Now with this stock and bottom magazine setup, I'm ready for 0.473" cartridges (.260, .243, .308, 7mm-08,.22-250) as well as .223 bolt face cartridges when I use my .223 SPS sporter for coyotes (and my MDT .223 magazines)... But since they are 10 rounders (5 is legal for hunting), I just keep the .22-250 barrel on the receiver and use the Magpul AICS 5 rounder magazines for hunting. I've even used the .308 sized 3 round magazine by Ruger with .22-250 cartridges with great success.

As Mrs. Frizzell on the "Magic Schoolbus" Show says, "Have fun, discover, and make mistakes...."

Rugbydave: YES< I've been swapping AICS compatible magazines in and out of the Magpul AICS bottom "metal" in both .223 and .308 based cartridge magazines, hey... it's all AICS dimensions. What's not to like?

Cheers,

Is it just me or could you not use any DBM that uses AICS mags and is designed for a Rem 700 SA and use .223 mags instead of .308?

Yup. Not under $200.00, but close. Atlas Worx aluminum bottom metal from Austrailia, ships to Canada. $167.00 Au ($169.30 Cdn), and then buy a AICS .223 magazine here ($40.00).

(and my MDT .223 magazines)... But since they are 10 rounders (5 is legal for hunting), I just keep the .22-250 barrel on the receiver and use the Magpul AICS 5 rounder magazines for hunting.

5 round limit is for semi-auto only. For hunting in Ontario the only magazine restrictions for rifles are those spelled out by the Firearms Act. Bolt action Rem 700 has no limit.
