Rem 700 (280AI) barrel????

Hi there
I have a Rem 700 bdl that i am going to send off to be customized and chambered to a 280AI. The final customized gun will to be a backpack light sheep hunting rifle.

My question to you the experts is which barrel should i be looking for accuracy and weight? Is there a good mountain barrel out there that doesn't need to be fluted? Im thinking a 24". I appreciate the help

Well, Douglas and Hart have great #1's. Remington Standard Contour is quite nice. How light are you shooting for?

I have had good luck with Kreiger, Schnieder,Mclennon,RKS,Hart, Gaillard, and Pac-Nor. I wasn't at all thrilled with Douglas.

I am hoping the rifle will be ~ 6.5 lbs scoped. I ordered a wildcat stock that should be 17.5 oz. Just don't know where to begin with all the different barrels out there!!

Would a Kreiger CM 0 contour 9 twist be a good choice?? Just throwing it out there because i found one in stock close to me. I am not set on any certain make or model, but like i say i am hoping someone with experience with this caliber can point me in the right direction for a good light weight barrel!!
