Rem 700 .308 action options?

Some advice please. I have a Cadex chassis, rem 700, SA and a 20!inch CFW barrel on the way. I need a action . Is there something in the $500 range that's half decent? Do the action come with the bolt,firing pin etc? Can I use a action from a diff cal. Rifle? Thanks

Thanks, I've bought a couple of items from them also, I'll check that out. Edit: I checked that link and it says .300 wm action. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but can I use this for .308?

nope, you need a .473 bolt face, the WSM bolt face is far to large

308, 243, 6mm, 22-250............basically anything that fits a number 3 rcbs shell holder

if you after a long action then you need to look for a 30-06, 270, 280 35 whelan and such

can't answer that as I have no idea what condition the rifle was in overall..........

It was a new AAC 20!inch HB. Now I'm thinking I could get something better.

Hirsch percision has barnard actions. Might as well go all the way and get a highend action.

Edit: saw your 500$ price cap.. The barnard is 3x that.

Two diff threads going, lol.This one is done now as I got a rem 700 from Bighorn. I'm still not clear on what a $1500 action does any better than a $500 one other than fit and finish. Does it make the gun more accurate? From what I've read and been told it,it's no.

Yes you did, I don't know of any action in the Remington 700 footprint for $500 ish

I doubt you will find a short action 700 for $600... new ones are closer to $900.

They retain a higher resale value over a trued 700 but down range accuracy wise - it's a coin toss.

Only a friend Fierce rifle action and it was smoother than my Tikka action. I still like my Tikka btw. Never the other big names, no.
