Guys,

I have been spending a bit of time looking at another precision rifle build, and it seems that a new AAC-SD model with a 16.5" barrel and 1:10 twist was silently released by Remington after SHOT. They seem to be available in .223, .308, and .300BLK, but I only found the SKU for the .308 model (#85538). It popped up on Snipershide a couple of times, but I'm interested if any have made it into Canada.

Here's a photo gleaned from Snipershide:

Thanks!

The Shooting Edge posted on another thread that they received their shipments last week.

I have a 20" .308, I wouldn't mind a 16.5 .223....

There's a thread I started on this very topic not far down the page. lol TSE has some apparently but I wouldn't bite at the first ones to become available unless the price is no different than what the 20" models are going for. Epps has a .300 Blackout which I thought was $100 too high for what it was. Funny, huh? The rifle has less materials built into it (shorter barrel) yet the price is higher.

I'm with Shibby! A 16.5" .223 Rem sounds like an interesting piece for short range varmint hunting.

How much are they?

I got my .308 for $700 from a CGN Supporter. (18$ shipping)

I agree. Price shouldn't change, but then again they always look for ways to increase selling costs, and new options is one way. Sad.

^^^ I doubt it. lol Great looking custom by the way. Sorry, to hear you've decided to sell it.

16" 700's in .300 Blackout are nothing new. People have been doing them for years and it's taken Remington well over a year to get their rifle to market since introducing it at 2012's SHOT Show. I certainly HOPE this now means that factory brass will make its way to Canada. Making brass is such a pain in the ass. I've got around 400 pieces now and I treat them like gold.

Yes, 2bad, I only just now saw your post, and one of nine's posts in the TSE subforum. I was too eager in finding out where these were being sold to read, it would seem. I would apologize, but you can never have too much discussion on new offerings, regardless on who they're coming from.

I do have to say, I have been deciding between the Savage Model 10-PC, the M700 AAC-SD (in both 20" and now 16.5"), and the Ruger GSR. Slightly different beasts, each, but a difficult decision regardless... The Savage has reportedly had a rougher action (subjective), the Remington some mediocre QC under Cerberus, and the Ruger plastic bottom metal and marginally higher price.

All make handy rifles. Each has it's own benifits and character. I'm really interested in the 16.5" AAC's, though, I've gotta say.

No need to apologize. I was just trying to point you to another thread that may be of benefit to you. The Blackout is a fun cartridge. If you decide to get one, you won't regret it.
