Input is welcomed on this long-fought debate. I am getting a 700, and I have some features I want, but there are so many models and custom-dealer configurations that its impossible to choose.

I intend to use this for precision bench shooting as well as a go-to rifle for hunting.

- .308
- NOT wood furniture (polymer suitable for wet-weather)
- Stainless Steel Action and Barrel, but prefer a black coating so its not shiny
- 20-1/2" Fluted heavy barrel
- Short Action is fine, dont intend to rechamber in the future.
- Would love a removable magazine config, but this is as rare as hens teeth, unless the ATRS mod is procured.
- pre-drilled for scope rail.
- I am really into the 5R barrel, but it looks too heavy for packing in the bush.

Thoughts?

I have the 5R Mil-Spec, and while it *is* heavier than your average bush rifle, I don't find it too much to haul through the bush. Plus I'm not an ATV guy, so I'm on foot to boot. I will say having a padded sling helps carry the extra weight.

As for the detachable mag setup, *if* you wind up with an HS Precision stock, you can retrofit a 10-rd detachable mag with no milling whatsoever. I just completed this upgrade and love the results: looks great and is very functional. And it's less than half the price of other options (ie Badger or AICS).

bingo...I got one in 223, it's a great rig

We're still talking about shooting right? Or have we changed the topic to masterbating?

Regardless, the problem isn't "working the action" with my right hand. Its that I'm left-eye dominant and need to shoulder the rifle on my left shoulder.
use your right hand, everyone else does.....:nest:

I don't think they are SS, but just in case the southpaw thing outways the need for SS...

Epps had one of the limited run LH LTR's still. Last time I checked anyways...
