Rem 700 detachable mag

anyone point out who makes the detachable mag setup that uses M14 mags for the rem 700? and anyone have any experiance with it?

I think HS made one but they pulled the plug on it...the M14mag needed to much work and moding to get it to work!

PM Ed Beg he makes top shelf kit!!!

If your heart is set on the m-14 mag it is possible to do ,I have build 5 rifles so far using aia mags(cut down m-14 mags for bolt guns) but it far from a drop in it takes a fair bit of alteration to the reciever. The mods are not huge but it's not somthing you could do with a dremel.

well i did not relise that the 14 mag changeup took so much work. i thought about useing an AIA mag aswell. i have a 700 XCR tactical that id like to convert over to a mag system. i supose it could be converted to remingtons own mag system aswell.

Remingtons mag system sucks..........

I had a Rem 700 P-DM (the first year they offered the Police Model with a Detachable Mag) and there were feed issues with the second and/or third round.I had a total of three mags for my rifle and they were all like that.

Robar in the U.S. offered a M14 mag conversion at one time, but it was VERY expensive (around $700.00 U.S. IIRC), and there were feed issues as well. I think Robar stopped doing this conversion quite a few years ago.

As GrensVegter has stated, it can be done, but is not cheap or easy.I have seen his M14 conversions, and he did one hell of a job on them!!! Longshot has the first one he did.Maybe he will happen by and post his experiences and thought on it.

I have also seen and played with the V-Bull Mag system and it is top shelf as far as quality and performance goes.It does require inletting of your stock in order to fit. This system uses AI 5 or 10 round mags. These seem to be the most consistent, reliable, and sturdiest mags available at this time.Contact Ed Begg here on CGN for more info on his V-Bull System.

H-S Precision also has a Detachable Mag system, but the magazine feed lips are not that robust and may require "tweaking" to feed reliably. When that is done, then the mags are pretty much limited to a particular rifle.

IIRC, H-S Precision never had or tried a M14 mag conversion.

If I didn't run a AICS set up, I would use the V-Bull Mag system.

I have a vbull on my ltr and it is awesome. Works amazingly and have never had a problem with it. I have a custom being made and if I didn't do an aics chasis It would have been an A5 with a vbull like the 4 others my smith is making. Again awesome system, not that I have tried all the others but at this point its all I would use.

Badger also does a aics conversion. They have a distributor in Canada listed on there web site. I talked to them and they have some in stock now but they sell fast. Price is about $100 cheaper than the Vbull but from what I have seen and heard the Vbull is the better of the two. But at least with Badger you can go to there web site and read about them and see pictures ;);).

I have the very first m14 mag conversion GV did.It is awesome and I've never had a stoppage with it.Not once. But like he says it is totally custom, takes a bit of work and hence would not be cheap or easy to do.The benefit is that I can use AIA mags OR m14 mags.

Too bad Badger couldn't be original and had to copy the V-Bull design/Idea.............;)
