Rem 700 donor for 358 Norma Mag

I have a Rem 700 in 7mm Rem Mag and was thinking of doing a barrel swap to a 358 Norma Mag. Internal mag. Will this be a straight barrel swap or is there more envolved?

Straight barrel swap. I like the idea, I'm a .35 cal fan. I did the same thing a few years ago but my donor was a .30-06 so I did a .35 Whelen. If my donor would have been a magnum, I would have gone with the Norma.

Funny I was just looking at the internal box magazine of my BRNO 602 in 358NM and my BRNO 602 300WM and there is a difference on how the box mag is built!
The 358NM has 2 bump outs on either side, while the 300WM does not, the followers are very similar , but has minor machining difference's?
All the conversions I have handles, just used a standard magnum followers and box mag.
A great cartridge , very accurate , wish Serria made a match 250gr bullet though?

Brno does a bit more cartridge specific work on their guns then Rem (or Win or Ruger for that matter). - dan

Being you have LOTS of action lenght why not go with the 358 STA ? It outperforms the 358 Norma easily ! JMO RJ

I was actually about to recommend a 9.3 on a 300 WM case.
286 gn bullets at over 2900 fps and 270 gn bullets over 3000 fps, one of the best medium bores I've ever fired.
