Rem 700 extractor swap

Is it easy enough to swap the extractor out on a 700? My well used 223 is failing to eject the spent cases out some times leaving them in the action.

It did this to me twice the other day calling coyote.

Easy to swap if it is not the riveted style. Have a qualified 'smith' look at it and see what's what. Sometime the bolt nose interferes with the extractor cut in the brass causing the case to drop from the bolt face early. Easily fixed if diagnosed correctly. Occasionally an extractor breaks and a new one is required.

I agree with guntech. If its not riveted its not reall difficult to change (neither is the riveted style if you buy the anvil tool) but you may want to buy a couple extractors just in case you dont get it right the first time. Its not that hard to bend them when installing.

Good advise in the previous 2 reply's.

Clean the bore & chamber.

Remove & clean the ejector while you're at it also.
