View attachment 34443The barrel on my new Rem 700 is touching the stock. Would this effect accuracy? Is it an easy fix? I put 27 5 rnd groups through her today and only had 3 that was 1 moa. The rest were 1 1/2 to 2 1/2. Was using nosler 165/180 and Hornady 165 . Mixture of factory and hand loads.

Short answer: yes, it effects accuracy. Either open up the barrel channel with a socket and sandpaper, or better yet bed the action.

Loosen your action screws until the barrelled action will move in the stock.

Put rifle butt plate down on the floor or bench.

Pull directly downwards on the barrel.

While holding pressure downwards, tighten action screws until hand tight.

Now hold rifle however you need and torque screws to whatever pressure you wish to use.

90% of the time, barrel will now be centred in the barrel channel.

I had the same issue's with both model 12 LRP's & also rem 700 LTR. I tried everything under the moon. Which is pretty sad for what are suppose to be classified as premium production rifle's.
Ended up glass bedding all 3 rifle's, it helped.

Like I am doing.... Take the stock off and add Brush on the bottom... Use it as a broom... Other then that it is junk... There is a lot of amazing stocks to get.
