What's the average overall length of the magazine box on a Remington 700 long action with a hinged floor plate magazine (300 win mag)?

rem long actions take up to 3.60 inches H&H full length.

And if you want to make a mod, you can go to Wyatt extended box and get 4.0". Making it usable for a 338 Edge for example.

I went with 3.850" mag, for my 300 win mag.... I just got off the phone with Patrice @ Cadex, his recommendation was to go bigger if you plan to reload or use 200 gr -230gr bullets. Had to order a larger mag well plate...for my new Field Tactical chassis from Cadex....
