So it is no secret Remington has some quality issues in the past. I havent bought a Rem700 in quite a while and was wondering what the quality of the new offerings was like. Is it hit or miss or have they got things ironed out ?

Thanks

I usually buy 2 or 3 a year and other than the trigger recall, no issues and bonus everyone one shot like a house on fire (good). Somebody somewhere will come on here and say they're crap or whatever but at any price point they're equal or better than any other offerings IMHO.

The last two stainless sps rifles I bought are excellent shooters. In 243 win and 22/250 rem.
The plastic stocks are hard to like but that goes for all manufacturers injection moulded garbage.

I'd go visually inspect any Remington I'm buying if I could. I had a look at some AWR rifles and the stock fitment was horrid. I was able to get one that I'd describe as pretty much perfect though. I bought 6 new 700s over just the last few years and they were all pretty good except one I felt shouldn't have made it out of the factory as the receiver had some nasty gouges above the bolt raceway. I didn't notice it for awhile, but that rifle just hammers, so I overlook it. Another, an SPS, the receiver finish is kind of going orange on me. Always kept in a 50% RH room and oiled after every use or touch with bare hands. I just cant seem to stop it.

I just put a hundred rounds through a 2019 bare bones 700ADL and it shot sub moa with all 5 bullets tried. Trigger wasn't as good as I am accustomed to, but that was easily solved with a TriggerTech

My personal experience with Remington 700s, including a recently built 257 Weatherby
has been entirely satisfactory. All great shooters, and I don't have to put a bag over
my head to be seen with them. Dave.

New ones?

I haven't bought a new 700 in many years, but did buy a newer used SPS action recently and was quite pleased with the finish over the older ones.

i have a 2018 model 700 sps varmint in 22-250. has been an awesome rifle with liking most any ammo you put in it. the x-mark pro trigger that it has i was able to get down to a consistent 2.5lbs which is plenty good for a hunting gun.

Tried out a neighbor's new 700 SPS in .270 last month. Shot real well. Not a fan of the cheapy stock or the SPS finish, but he bought it to get meat, not sit and look pretty,

Sighted in a brand new Remington 700 AWR this morning. Two groups at 100 yards, 1.0 & 0.9 MOA w/ factory Barnes ammo. Quick N Easy
